Shimakaze Cosplay Photoshoot – Sephoria Hart
Over the past weekend I went to AnimeNEXT in Atlantic City, NJ and had a blast! I had the chance to do a couple great photoshoots with some talented cosplayers and grabbed a few random hall shots as well. So my first post from this convention will be a few pictures of a photoshoot I had with the beautiful Sephoria Hart in her Shimakaze cosplay from the anime/game KanColle. It was a fun shoot especially with this outfit being so bootylicious and she was not afraid to flaunt it =) Check it out!
Figure Review: Rinna Mayfield 1/8 Scale by Kotobukiya
Today I have a figure that I preordered quite a while ago and it is finally here, Rinna Mayfield from Shining Resonance! If you have never heard of the series it wouldn’t be surprising, this is yet another game (WHERES PSO2 SEGA??) that SEGA has decided not to bring stateside, I guess they don’t like money? Anyway I knew nothing of this character other than she is a magic caster type and cute as hell, and that’s really all I needed to know lol. This is a 1/8 scale prepainted release by Kotobukia, the character design is done by Tony Taka.
This figure has some great color to it and I really like the design. Also my figure collection has been lacking in bootylicious women and Rinna has me covered in that department now =p Her pose really shows off her assets well and she has a cute penguin on her butt!
Also her little penguin friend attaches by magnet and her hat comes off too. The magnet on the penguin is a nice touch, it would have been a shame to have a peg going right into the top of her ass lol. The hat fits nicely unlike some figures with removable hats the hair grooves keep it in place nicely. The base also has a nice concrete paver texture to it, I always like to see care put into the base rather than a clear plastic disc. It just adds a little bit more to the feel of the figure.
Overall I love this figure it is well sculpted with an excellent paint job and an awesome pose. Compared to my recent figure purchases this was a bargain on preorder for around 8000 yen and I think as of this writing it is still in stock at Hobby Link Japan. My preorders this year are mostly leaning toward female wizard type of characters I am hoping to build a whole shelf of them soon. Lots of great stuff coming out this year and my preorder list is way too long… hopefully I can survive the coming convention season!
Smart Doll – Wersaze Silicone Soft Bust Review
Soft squishy boobies for my Smart Doll?? Yes they now exist! The company Wersaze now makes a silicone bust specifically for smart doll similar to the popular Peach Pai for Dollfie Dreams. I am among the first to pick one up and after trying it out for a couple weeks I have a great review for you guys. The official smart doll busts are very nice but one of the great things with a soft bust is that you can squish it into tight clothing and have a push up cleavage effect. This also lets you use a wider variety of clothing sizes as it doesn’t need to fit 100% perfect since there is now some give to the bust. I’ll let Mirai show you the finer details herself. For reference before Mirai changes into her new silicone bust, she is wearing her official large smart doll bust.
This bust is roughly the same size as the smart doll large bust, and its squishy! You can see in the next pictures it has an internal shell that keeps the inner skeleton from harming the silicone. Also it keeps the jelly-like implants from coming out of the breast area. Compared to a peach pai this is a little more firm and has a bit more spring to it when you squish it. If you keep tight clothes on them they expand back to normal size very quickly.
Here are some shots of Mirai with her large bust on, then some similar angles of the new silicone bust. By the way I painted the Smart Doll bust myself using pastels, though I think I oversealed it since you can see a little bit of clear specks from the sealer. Oh well it was my first time =p
If you are looking at the photos in high res you will probably notice the silicone bust has some dust specks on it, it came like this in the package. Unfortunately silicone does attract does very easily and needs to be cleaned once a month if you are keeping your doll out on display. The bust needs to be rinsed off with water, though this causes the silicone to become almost sticky. You then need to lightly powder the bust with either baby powder or corn starch which gives the bust a smooth clean look and makes it not sticky.
Now for the fun part, see how they squish!
The skin tone is not a perfect match but it is close enough. I tried to keep this photos as nearly raw as possible, minimal editing, to show you the true colors of the product.
Mirai is modeling her new outfit from TC Doll, an amazing doll clothing maker that I highly recommend. He makes clothes for DD & Smart Doll girls with an emphasis on sexy, as you can see =)
Overall I really love this bust! The versatility you gain by having a soft bust and being able to wear a bunch of different clothes that may not fit exactly right on a solid hard bust is huge! This bust is very well made, the seams are not very noticeable and the inner shell gives a great protection that the Peach Pai is lacking. The silicone seems sturdy and so far has shown no signs of ripping, of course you do need to be more careful with it than with a normal vinyl bust. The only trade-off for the great look is the cleaning maintenance and the fragility of the silicone but as long as you take care of it properly you shouldn’t have any problems.
As always feel free to ask me any questions you have and follow me on social media as I update those much more often! Thanks for reading!
My First Dollfie Dream Shia Flatpaddy Arrives!
Well first off I know it has been quite a while, sorry! I was kind of waiting for all Shia’s parts to roll in and there were a few complications but she is 95% complete! I feel like a custom doll is almost never “done”, or if you do reach that point it takes a lot longer than you think. So I decided she is complete enough to be shown off! =) Here is Shia Flatpaddy my custom Dollfie Dream!
She is gorgeous as you can see! I did not get the ears / tail yet but I am having them custom made and should be getting them this week. The wig I am still fighting with styling, it kind of likes to just go where it wants to and will need some work. Since I am using a SQ-Labs head which is actually slightly smaller than a DD, i shouldve gotten the next wig size down which would be a 7-8, instead of the usual DD size which is 8-9.5 . So unfortunately this wig is slightly too large, I am going to try using a silicone wig cap to bulk her head up a bit and see if that helps. It’s not terrible but its something I want to eventually fix.
I am really happy with how her faceup / wig / eyes interact color-wise. It really is a good pairing and is pretty true to the original character she is modeled after, created by the artist Syroh. His artwork has been a favorite of mine for years and you may already know this from my previous post about Shia which details my creation and ordering of parts to make this doll.
I did make quite an error in not realizing the head I ordered from SQ-Labs was actually in white skin, and the DDdy body & peach pai plus were both in normal skin. Though its not super noticable you can see the skin tone difference. I will eventually be looking into getting a white skin body to match as I really like the tone of the head and would rather keep her lighter skinned. Of course there was only 1 model of pure white DDdy ever made which is White Christmas version Alna. This is kind of a rare doll and just to get her body would be pretty expensive… oh well it’s something to look forward to eventually. This body can always become a new girl =)
I really am just in love with this girl even with the flaws that are my fault. Her face is just perfect, really love the sculpt and the faceup is just a perfect cheery / cute loli! <3 I of course will be taking lots more pictures for you guys and I wont take 2 weeks to post again I promise! Getting into the Overwatch beta has been very disruptive to my life cause it’s so goddamn addicting! lol
In closing I would like to say if you are thinking about making your own custom doll and you are really getting into using different vendors, custom parts, etc. , like I did. Then you need to double and triple check every part to make sure it is compatible and to make sure its all going to match up the way you want it to. It can be hard especially since we need to order from sites in other languages just go get what we want sometimes, but you can always ask me or ask the helpful folks over at dollfiedreams.com to help. Here are a few bonus pics of before her proper wig arrived, she was wearing the extra silver wig I had lying around, and she actually looked damn cute in it! These are the kind of random pics I usually post on social media so follow me for more! (btw Shia’s ass is a bit bigger than Mirai’s and she ended up ripping a few stitches out of these shorts..)
Mirai – Casual Bikini Top & Jeans
It’s been too long since I spent some time with Mirai taking photos and even though it’s winter here you can never go wrong with a bikini top! She is wearing the Smart Doll default jeans and this bikini top is from M+V Studios on taobao.com. I have been keeping the XL bust on her lately but honestly it is hard to find things that fit it well besides a bikini or loose fitting lingerie. Typically a Smart Doll will fit into clothing made for a Dollfie Dream Dynamite when using a M or L bust, but since the XL kind of slopes downward more naturally it ends up not looking as good. In any case soon I will have a custom made silicone bust for Mirai similar to a Peach Pai and of course will have a full review up on here. Anyway lets get to the photos! =)
Bonus for scrolling all the way down, a few NSFW outtakes behind the tab!

Slightly off topic, how do you guys feel about wig changes on your doll? I recently picked up a cool silver twintail wig just to mess around with. I put it on Mirai but I don’t know if it is that her eye color doesn’t go with the wig color or what, but it just feels weird! It almost makes it like she becomes a totally different character, she just doesn’t feel like my Mirai with it on you know? I think I will eventually get Mirai’s official alternate short style wig but besides that I don’t think wig changing is for me. Maybe if she was going to go full out cosplay and wear an anime outfit but that’s another story. Do you change around your dolls wig / eyes or just keep them the same?
Figure Review: Cu-Poche Tsukiko & Extra Accessories
Hi guys! Today I have some more Cu-Poche awesomeness for you, Tsukiko from The “Hentai” Prince and the Stony Cat and also some cool Cu-Poche Extra items. Lets check out the packaging.
So besides our Tsukiko we have a cat hoodie complete with cat paws, tights, and rain boots. I also picked up the School Swimsuit Body which is basically just an extra body you can stick any head on and have them in a bathing suit! Also comes with a nice looking blue stand & paddle board with special hands to grip it.
So first lets take a look at this adorable Tsukiko figure. Now I have not seen this show but basically bought her because shes just damn cute and she came with “cat paw” hands that I could swap onto any nendo or cu-poche, need I say more? Also make sure you check out the eyes on the this figure they really look amazing.
Her skirt is really cute and doesn’t restrict her leg posing at all, oh yeah she also came with a cat! I’m not sure what this oni mask is about but I like it, it attaches with a clear elastic around the head.
As if Tsukiko weren’t cute enough, you cant prepare yourself for how awesome this neko hoodie is! The hoodie fits snugly and is perfectly sized and zipper seems well made, I didn’t have any issues with it. If the figure you were using this on had big hair you probably couldn’t put the hood up it kind of just fits over Tsukiko’s head. The white cat paws just replace the hands completely and have a nub that snaps right into the arm. The rain boots are made of a rubber material and also have magnets on the bottom, they slip right over the feet of the figure no need to take them off. The red tights look cute but don’t really go with her outfit so I didn’t put them on. Oh and the tail has wire in it and is poseable!
Halfway through the shoot I remembered I bought some card stock backgrounds and forgot to use them, I think they look a lot better than my wall! Lol.
So up next we have the Cu-Poche School Swimsuit figure. Now like I said before it doesn’t come with a head but Kotobukiya now sells extra heads separately of various characters, also you can use most Nendoroid heads as well. This figure really lets you visually see how pose-able these really are since most of the joints are exposed.
For our little showcase here I called over Leonmitchelli Galette des Rois from the anime Dog Days. She was riding her trusty chocobo nearby and came to check out the situation. Upon discovering this odd headless figure naturally she decided to pop her head off and take it for a spin in the pool. The Dark Magician Girl wanted to join in the fun too!
I think Nendoroid heads look pretty cool on the Cu-Poche body, I really love that you can head swap these as it makes it so a Nendo collector can jump right into Cu-Poche.
Tsukiko wearing that white cat hoodie is basically just cuteness overload, I have this anime on my watch list now purely because of this character lol. The Cu-Poche extra stuff is really cool and I hope they put out a lot more. Just a simple thing like this cat hoodie set can bring new life to an old figure, and it was only 1800 yen! What kind of Cu-Poche / Nendoroid crossovers would you guys want to try?

Building my own custom Dollfie Dream – Shia Flatpaddy
I have been working on piecing together my next anime style doll for a few months now and I have finally confirmed my design and wanted to share! I am building a custom Dollfie Dream Dynamite which is a 1/3 scale ball jointed doll, modeled after a character by my favorite Japanese Doujin artist Syroh. Now this is just something I love about dolls vs figures because you can literally build any combination and get it to look exactly how you want. The chances of a doujin artists original characters getting any type of figure is next to none. Do you have a favorite character from a niche 12 episode anime that never got any good figures but you wish they did? You can build a doll to look just like it! The possibilities are really endless. So anyway here is my nekomimi Shia Flatpaddy that we will be recreating in doll form, she is just adorable! <3 <3
So where do we start? The head is the primary thing that really makes a character look the part and I found my head at SQLabs. They do a lot of great custom heads / faceups and the one I chose has little fang like teeth which are perfect since I am making a catgirl. This cost about 25K yen for head / face makeup / eyes.
Now we need a body, the Dollfie Dream line comes in several shapes & sizes and I chose the Dollfie Dream Dynamite body for its curvy design since Shia is a very voluptuous girl. I bought a body on Yahoo Auctions JP from someone who parted out a DDdy Miko for 25k yen which is a great price! So this is what our body will look like. (Miko pictured below)
While the DD Dynamite is pretty busty, Shia is a very well endowed girl so she needed something special. I got her the Peach Pai Plus, which is a custom aftermarket silicone bust made by Rajikaru and is pretty much the coveted grail of Dollfie Dream collectors around the world haha. They are made from custom molds designed technically for the DD2 older generation body do they do fit the DD3 new body with some slight modification. They allow you to have a more realistic bust that will squish and mold into clothing much better than just hard vinyl and looks great. A few examples of Dollfie Dream equipped with Peach Pai below. (Photo credit to bluebluewave on Flickr)
I found a wig pretty close to the style I need from Miruya.com , it will need a bit of wig wax and styling to achieve the exact look I want but I think it will be a good match. The pigtails are detachable too which is nice
For the ears I will be attempting to make my own with some felt like fabric and little fuzzy hair to stick out the middle of the ear. I got the inspiration for the ear style from my friend @kugapost on twitter. I will use magnets on the bottom of the ear that will have counterparts glued inside of the head, this will create the look of the ears growing out of the hair rather than being just a headband. The tail I will be creating with a fabric coated pipecleaner that will attach through a drilled small hole through the back that will tie around the center skeleton frame for support. It will be scary drilling into her but worth it for a permanent tail!
See a pic of @kugapost’s cute Mini Dollfie Dream below with her kitty ears.
So there is my custom doll progress, at this point everything has been ordered and I’m just waiting for it all to come! Now I need to pick out outfits… this might take a while lol.
As you can see putting together a custom doll exactly the way you want it really can be a hassle but how else could I recreate a niche doujin character in physical form? It took shopping around to a lot of different vendors, talking with all the helpful people on the DD forums, and a lot of planning but finally I can say this stage is done.
Have any of you built your own custom DD? Let me know if you have any questions about my custom Shia. I might in the future make a more comprehensive post listing all the resources I have found for DD parts and how/where to buy them if there is interest. =)
